I have just joined NZ punk metal band No Love Lost playing live keyboards and some additional sparodic guitar work. I'm really excited about this, and start rehearsals with the band next Thursday (one weeks time!) We'll be playing a lot of shows around the beginning of October onwards till around December, so make sure you keep an eye out and come rock the fuck out with us.

Deek Sauce Soundsystem is the new entity of electro-rock band Dekline, except with a totally new twist. Basically, I want to take a break from writing music, and spend some time manipulating YOUR music.

If you head over to the profile you can listen to a couple of sample remixes that I've done with a couple of Nine Inch Nails songs. These mixes are made off my own ideas, but like most artists I can mix it up your track in a fashion that suits you.

matt & i have decided to put together a little live electronica set that we hope to be performing soon in some homo-erotic techno bar near you! basically, it involves us with laptops, synthesizers and a guitar. think about taking a dekline song, hitting it with the gay stick and thats the final product we'll be delivering.

What to expect in 2008

Well, a lot really. Once Matt returns from touring with The Feelers, we'll be hitting the studio to finish our debut record. I'm not even gonna put out a ball-park release date for it because chances are it won't be ready in time, but it will be before year end definately.

I'm looking at shuffling up the live aspect a little bit. Time for some live synth action, and for live drums. Turning it more into a full machine will work better, sound better and make for a much more abbrasive sound. This of course means that the live aspect of Dekline will be on hold for a while so we can finish recording, and rehearse the new presentation of the band. More details on the lineup will come later.

I promise more shows around the country. We still haven't left Wellington and that's a little concerning to me because I feel there are people all over New Zealand that would enjoy a live show from us - so we will deliver this year.

"A four-month investigation launched by SAFE has revealed that beagles and other companion animals are destined for a new wave of New Zealand animal research carried out on behalf of international organisations.

Current affairs programme 60 Minutes interviewed the man at the centre of SAFE's campaign, Alan Goldenthal, who made a convincing attempt to justify the use of animals for research. SAFE felt the 60 Minutes programme was disappointing journalism. It was a weak, passive and largely unbalanced look at animal research in New Zealand. The reporter made factually incorrect statements and let the researcher go unchallenged. Watch 60 Minutes

VARC is the first of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere to use beagles for research. Aside from beagles SAFE understands VARC plans to breed cats, horses and rabbits, also for research. While it appears no terminal experiments are taking place right now, the facility is still new. It is likely animals will eventually undergo invasive experiments and be killed. The head of VARC says his animals are necessary research tools in the quest to save human life. The "higher goal" as he describes it.

BeagleA total of 318,489 living animals were used for animal research (vivisection) in New Zealand last year. The most recent national figures available reveal 757 cats and 682 dogs were used in 2006. The use of cats and dogs for research in New Zealand has doubled since 2001. Most laboratory animals will suffer. Many will die. None will be loved. If they are lucky, their death will be quick and painless, but most won't be so lucky."

Shane & Kier visit Erotica Expo 2007

We checked out the Erotica Expo in Palmeston North on Saturday, and it was totally worth the drive (just a shame Palmeston North is still loaded with some complete morons though).

A lot smaller than previous years, but still interesting none the less - might have been lacking in size due to the venue, which seemed odd but who knows. Shane was proposed too by Phoenix Knight, but only realised once we'd left so he missed out (until later that night).

Shadowplay IX Show - This should be a fairly stellar performance I think. Logan's first attempt at doing live bass for Dekline, plus with the return of Matt I'm sure it's going to kick some ass. Hoping we can debut WAR, as this song just sounds better the more I play it.

Nov 30th Aucks Show - Cancelled, more details to follow. We maybe crazy but we're not dumb.

Erotica Expo: Palmeston North - This weekend, i'll be there with my beautiful lady, hopefully Shane will tag along. Perhaps we'll see some of you there!

For lack of better news to report, I thought i'd take a moment to plug my little side project called Oki Doki.

Inspired very much by what's going on in Amerika at the moment, and the general way the Amerikan government operates (bit of an oxymoron there), Oki Doki is a digital and thrash interpretation of modern day corruption.
